Jam and jelly and bread are the best foods for me!

(via Edward Lear, I fear. Do forgive me.)

The quangle wangle eats toast and jam,
quotes Sam I am, fries yams and ham.

The quangle wangle writes breakfast verse;
you’ve seen better, and you’ve seen worse.
He gives the children tea and crumpets,
pats them on their wangle heads,
he puts the littlest all to bed,
and puts away the raisin bread.

The quangle wangle is an animal
with four legs and a whimple.
He comes to tell the children rot,
and lies with them in summer cots,
he knows what mischief children got.
His smile is wide and shows his dimples.
He’s an animal, pure and simple.

The quangle wangle eats toast and jam,
quotes Sam I am, fries yams and ham.

The quangle wangle is a great historian,
a writer of mysteries, a plutotorian.
He is four legged and a big liar,
he’s set his pants and great aunts on fire.
He’s the founder of a story emporium,
and the tellers guild in West Pretorium.

The quangle wangle toasts his bread,
washes his face and dries his head,
he turns the covers back and he goes to bed,
and is forgotten by the children as they grow and wed.

The quangle wangle eats toast and jam,
quotes Sam I am, fries yams and ham.

I love, love, love, love this post. I’m sitting in a cafe in Silver City with a wall of games for the kiddies and laughing at my brilliant friend’s prose. Delectable. Hoping for a cancellation, as always. xoxox
